This page explains what personal information the Kawaii-Boo website collects and how it is used. Kawaii-Boo is a shop in Booth 733 of the Corpus Christi Trade Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. This website is meant for people visiting or contacting our shop in the United States.

The short version

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use this website for advertising or to build profiles of visitors.
• We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools on this website right now, and the site does not set cookies.
• If you use the “Leave my details” form in the chat helper, we use what you write only to reply to you. Otherwise, to reach us, call or message us on Instagram.
• Our chat helper, Boo, is an AI. What you type to Boo is sent to an AI service (OpenAI) to write a reply. We do not save your conversation.

Information you give us

This website has no contact form yet, so it does not collect messages. To reach us, call 361.331.1133 or message @kawaii_boocc on Instagram. If we add a form later, we will update this page first.

The Boo chat helper (AI)

When it is switched on, a small chat button lets you ask Boo questions about the shop. Boo is an artificial intelligence, not a person, and can be wrong, so please call us to confirm hours or whether an item is in stock.

• What you type is sent through our server to OpenAI, which generates the reply. We ask OpenAI not to store the conversation. OpenAI may keep data from its service for a limited time under its own terms (for example to detect abuse); see openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
• We do not save your chat on our servers or in your browser. Closing the chat or leaving the page ends the conversation.
• Please do not type passwords, payment card numbers, government ID numbers or other sensitive information into the chat.
• To limit abuse, our server briefly counts requests from your network address. It does not keep the content of your messages.

If you choose “Leave my details”, you can send us your name, email address, an optional phone number and a message about what you are looking for, and you confirm that we may contact you. We save that inquiry in our database (hosted by Supabase) and may email it to our staff. The chat AI does not see this form. We use it only to reply to you, keep it up to 24 months unless you ask us to delete it sooner, and do not sell it. To see or delete it, contact us using the details below.

Information collected automatically

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools on this website, and it does not set cookies. It remembers only one thing for the length of your visit, in your browser’s session storage: that you have already seen the opening animation. It disappears when you close the tab.

Like nearly every website, the company that hosts this site automatically records basic technical details whenever a page is requested, such as the IP address, the date and time, the page requested and the type of browser. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors. The host uses them to keep the service running and secure.

Links to other sites

Our Instagram link and the directions link (Google Maps) open sites run by other companies. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave this website. The chat helper uses OpenAI and our inquiry database uses Supabase, as described above.

Children

Our shop welcomes fans of all ages, but this website is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us using the details below.

Changes to this page

If what the website does changes (for example, if we start using analytics or connect the contact form), we will update this page. The date at the top shows when it last changed.

What this website is

This website tells you about our shop and how to find us. It is not an online store: we do not sell products or take payments through it. What is in stock, what things cost and when we are open can change, so please call 361.331.1133 to check before you visit.

Photos and artwork

Photos on this site show the shop and its shelves. Some images have been edited or generated with image tools to look their best, and the mascots and booth illustration are artwork made for the shop. What is on the shelves changes, and items can look different in person.

Other companies’ names and products

Pop Mart, Sonny Angel, Hello Kitty, BTS, Dragon Ball Z and other product, brand, band and character names that appear or are mentioned on this site belong to their owners and are used only to describe the kinds of things we sell. Kawaii-Boo is an independent shop and an authorized retailer of Pop Mart and Sonny Angel products. Apart from that, using these names does not mean their owners sponsor or endorse this website or our shop.

Our content

The text, layout, illustrations and mascots on this site are protected by copyright. Please do not copy or reuse them without asking us first. You are welcome to link to the site.

No promises about accuracy

We try to keep the information on this site correct and up to date, but we cannot promise that it is always complete or current. The site is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, and we are not responsible for losses that come from relying on it.

Links to other websites are for your convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.

Open-source software

This website uses open-source fonts and code. Their licenses and notices are in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt.

Kawaii-Boo wants everyone to be able to use this website. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.

What we have done

• Every page and control can be used with a keyboard. Press Tab to move, Enter to choose and Escape to close a card or the menu.
• Photos have text descriptions, and the decorative stickers are hidden from screen readers because everything they show is also written as text.
• Text is meant to meet the contrast levels WCAG asks for, and the site works on phones and with browser zoom.
• A “Pause animations” button in the menu and on every card stops the moving stickers, button pulse, drifting clouds and scrolling photos. Animations also start paused if your device is set to reduce motion.
• When a card opens, keyboard focus moves into it, and it returns to where you were when the card closes.

Known limits

• Photos of the shelves include products and small printed text that screen-reader software cannot read. If you want to know whether we have something, call us.
• Our checks so far are automated testing (axe-core) and keyboard testing. We have not yet had the site tested with screen-reader software by people who use it.
